Twitter Chat on #YouthinPolitics
The Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) reports that of all world MPs, only 1.9% are under the age of 30 and 14.2% are under the age of 40. IPU's research also reveals that although women remain the least represented group in all age categories, there is a less pronounced gender imbalance among young MPs with a 60:40 ratio. What do you think are the reasons for this? How can we make sure more young people get more involved in politics?
To help answer these questions and many others, we are excited to host a Twitter Chat on Friday on youth political participation ahead of the International Youth Day in collaboration with IPU!
WHAT
A Twitter Chat is when people around the world gather on Twitter at the same time to discuss an issue or topic. Anyone can participate by using the Chat’s hashtag.
WHEN
Kicking-off on 10 August 2018 at 3:00 ET (9:00 GMT+2), the Twitter Chat will last 12 hours.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Each question is numbered and responses start with the corresponding reference. Quote all tweets using the #YouthinPolitics hashtag and mentioning @iKNOW_Politics and @IPUparliament where characters allow.
